A few years ago, a huge “Dreamlifter” cargo plane landed at the wrong airport. That’s not just a slap on the wrist, the runway was shorter than officially required for take off or landing the huge jet that has the largest volumetric capacity of any plane flying today. The “required” runway length for take-off is 9199 feet. This airport had only 6101 feet. Oops. They went for it anyway, took off successfully, and landed again at the correct military airport on the other side of Wichita.
